The Rapture of the Church

Daily Reminders About the Return of Jesus

Day 2      THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH
The catching away of saints to be with Jesus in the air is referred to as the rapture of the church. It denotes the ecstasy of being transported to another place to be with Jesus. At that time the dead in Christ will come out of their graves to be reunited with their spirits which have already gone to heaven. Both the dead in Christ and true believers who are alive on earth will be united with Jesus in the twinkling of an eye in their glorified bodies.     According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.   And so we will  be with  the  Lord forever. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17)
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. (1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
All believers will be raised in that day unto everlasting life because Jesus Christ was the first to be raised from the dead.
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. (Romans 8:11)
The rapture of the invisible, universal church, the body of Christ, will be a glorious occasion, one that Christians have been longing for down through the centuries. Whether alive or dead, to be included in this awesome event, one must be a child of God. That means sins forgiven through the blood of Jesus and living, or having lived, a life for His glory and His purposes. Everyone will some day be resurrected out of his or her grave.
"Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out--those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. (John 5:28-29)
Are your spiritual ears listening for the trumpet call of God to meet Him in the air?
