Day 28 Covenant Blessings
Many Christians do not know that they are the seed of Abraham and heirs to the promise of God.
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:29) Abraham was blessed to be a blessing. God made this covenant with Abraham and the nation of Israel, a called out people through whom the Messiah would come. God demonstrated to them who He was by using the name of Jehovah, the true, eternal, self-existent God who is unchangeable. He is the great I AM.
He is whatever we need Him to be. His name revealed His character traits and pointed to Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of His covenant promises.
In the Old Testament (Covenant) we see Him as Jehovah, in the New Testament (Covenant) we see the fulfillment in Christ:
JEHOVAH TSIDKENU: our Righteousness
CHRIST: God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
JEHOVAH M’KADDESH: who sanctifies
CHRIST: And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:11)
JEHOVAH SHALOM: our Peace
CHRIST: and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. (Colossians 1:20)
JEHOVAH SHAMMAH: His Presence with us
CHRIST: Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16)
JEHOVAH ROPHE: our Healer
CHRIST: He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. ( 1 Peter 2:24)
JEHOVAH JIREH: our Provider
CHRIST: He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:32)
JEHOVAH NISSI our Banner (victory)
CHRIST "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)
JEHOVAH ROHI our Shepherd
CHRIST "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (John 10:11)
Jesus is all we need to live a life of godliness. He meets our physical needs, our emotional and spiritual needs. Through knowledge of His covenant blessings we can live a victorious life in Christ. Claim His blessings daily, they are your inheritance.
Thank God for all His blessings:
for His righteousness (we have none of our own)
for sanctification (we are set apart for special handling)
for peace (the world’s peace won’t cut it)
for His presence (He will never leave us)
for healing (it is part of our covenant blessings)
for provision (everything belongs to Him)
for victory (in every battle)
for being our Shepherd (all of us have gone astray)
GREAT IS THE LORD, AND GREATLY TO BE PRAISED; AND HIS GREATNESS IS UNSEARCHABLE. (Ps. 145:3 KJV)
