God Loves Me

GOD LOVES ME

The Kingdom of God is all about love. It’s all about love being poured from one container (person) into another container (person).

We keep a half gallon bottle of water next to our coffee pot. When it gets empty we take it to the faucet to fill it up. Then we take it to the coffee pot and pour it into the pot to make coffee. That is the way God’s love works. We go to the source, to God, to get filled with His love. Each morning I like to spend time in His presence, soaking up His love for me. I didn’t always know that I had to come to the awareness of God’s love for me. I thought my time spent with the Lord was to grow in love for Him and to become knowledgeable about Him. Of course, that is true, but when I added the dimension of receiving His love for me personally, it showed me how much easier it was to walk in love toward others. Time with God receiving His love prepares me to go into my day having love to pour into others. When my vessel has little love or no love in me for myself, I have nothing to pour into other vessels. We must go to the faucet, the Source, to get the love that so freely flows as we tap in. People don’t realize they can’t truly love others until they know God’s love for themselves.

I remember early on when God showed me that I could love people with His love when they were being difficult, because I surely didn’t have my own love to do it. Still, it was not easy to try to pass on God’s love when I was lacking in awareness of His personal love for me. When I came to experiencing and believing His complete acceptance of me as I was and that He rejoiced over me and enjoyed my company, my relationship with Him was no longer one-sided. I wasn’t doing monologues anymore, I was having fellowship with the King of the universe. It freed me to be me and to begin loving others with the love that He had for me.

Matthew 22:39 … ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
