Receive the Gift
O silent night of long ago,
Blessed event, we cherish so.
The Baby Jesus who came to live
Thirty-three years, His life to give.
Holy Father who sent the Son
Loving the world, ere it was begun.
Willing Son, obedient to death
Who hung on the cross, losing His breath.
Holy Spirit, present for all
Seeking man to answer His call.
Man, what art thou that God so cares
Delivering him, whose burdens He bears?
If God so loved the world to this degree
Why would any man from His presence flee?
Does he not know there is coming a day
When sin must be reconciled, someone must pay?
Why not let Jesus, who came for this reason
Be the meaning of our celebration this season?
Those who refuse, reject the gift from above
Will pay by separation from God’s great love.
So now is the time to rejoice and sing
Jesus is Savior, Lord and soon-coming king.
