Power of the Tongue

Power of the Tongue

Taken from Daily Promises (available also in Dawning of Wisdom  Part 1)

Day 31

Proverbs 18:21
"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit."

PROMISE: The tongue (our words) has the power to minister life or death.
CONDITION: We will eat the fruit of our words.

Few people realize that there is power in the words we speak.  Words are carriers and they either carry the power to build up or to tear down.  God did His creation with words and when Jesus returns at the end of the age to stop the Battle of Armageddon, He will do it with His words.  He defeated Satan and commanded him to leave with His words.  He delivered the demoniac with words and He healed the sick with words.  He cursed the fig tree with words.  When we put God's words in our mouths mixed with faith, the Bible says we can move mountains.  When we use our mouth carelessly and speak foolish or idle words, we  diminish the power of our words.  When we say ugly things or negative things, we are agreeing with the powers of darkness.  Christians ought not do that.  As stated in the book of James, sweet and bitter water cannot come out of the same fountain.  We should speak the things that we want to happen and things that agree with God's word.  By faith we can call into being those things that be not as though they were.  We will love the fruit of our lips when we use them wisely.
