In the garden (part two)
Leaping Lady Bug
After seeing the “reflections of a ladybug” I became curious (the triplets would say “obsessed”) to find out more about the ladybug. I learned that ladybugs like the cool of the day, and they love water. I would go out each evening to water the garden, and then I would look for another model. My photographic observations showed me something very interesting. (Please note no bug was hurt during this shoot)
First, ladybugs will not just fly! Oh no they leap and then they fly. In fact, they are very picky and doubtful as to the spot they will launch from. They roam around the leaf and once they are perfectly position on the edge they open their shell, which slightly uncovers their wings, and then they leap.
 "deciding"
 "positioning"
 "getting ready to leap"
 Leap!
When I saw this I screamed, cried and rejoiced! God is so creative. His handiwork is displayed so well in this little bug. What a picture she is to me of faith and trust.
It reminds me of a passage in 2 Corinthians 5:7 “ We walk by faith not by sight”. The Word tells us that by faith Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water, Noah built an ark when there was no sign of rain. By faith the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea as though they were passing through dry land; and the Egyptians when they attempted it, were drowned. By faith the wall of Jericho fell down after the children of Israel and Joshua encircled it for 7 days. I could go on an on with examples from the Bible.
Today around the world people place their faith in Christ. By faith they endure hardships, mocking, scourging, chains, and imprisonment. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of the things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3
With such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us I encourage you to lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrew 12 1-2
Hold fast to these words in Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him”.
If you are struggling today looking for the “perfect place” to leap from, I encourage you ask God for faith and then LEAP!! I promise He will be right there to catch you, guide you and save you. The One who made the Ladybug made you.
Warmly,
Dorene Vandermeer
